Board President Dave Jones - is a lifelong Martin resident. Dave has owned businesses in Martin for over 39 year. He is the current owner of Ace Hardware where you will find him and staff actively helping customer with great customer service. Dave is married to Mary and they have three wonderful daughters Christy (Jason), Clarice (Eric) and Amy (Jared), they also have six granddaughters and one grandson. Dave enjoys hunting fishing, camping, cowboying, and most of all family time with his grandchildren. Dave enjoys being on the hospital board and advocates for strengthening the facilities services to meet the community’s needs.

Board Vice President Doug O’Bryan - also has been a lifelong community member. Raised on a ranch near Kyle, South Dakota Doug learned that hard work was the key to success in life. Doug is the 5th of seven boys in his family. Doug has two children Stephanie (Paul) and Chris (Mikaela) and a total of nine living grandchildren and one grandson who passed away from SIDS at 6 months old. Doug is very active in the community through his business O’Bryan Contracting, 40 year member of the Martin Volunteer Fire Department where he is currently listed as a Captain but has also had the roles of Chief and Assistant Chief Fireman. Doug is also helped start the “Fire Explorer” Program alongside fellow firefighter Roger McMillin. The Fire Explorer program has been key in getting young people interested in volunteering in the local fire service and has kept the MVFD vibrant. The Fire Explorer program is currently active with 9 young people involved and there are several older firefighters who are active who were in the Fire Explorers program. Current Chief Chris O’Bryan got his start on the department through the explorer program when it was started and continues to push it today.

Board Secretary Dale McDonnell - moved to an area ranch in 1951. He married his high school sweet heart Bonnie who he has three children with. Dale also has eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Dale has also been very active in the community while owning several business such as Dales TV and Appliance, The General Store, McDonnell Contracting and Management, and the Crossroads Inn. Dale has also been on several boards including three tours on the hospital board spanning a combined 40 years, three other medical boards, Fair board, Library Board, County Commissioners Board, and the City Council. Dale was partially retired in 2017 after he sold the Crossroads Inn but after he realized it was not operating the way he envisioned it for the community he reacquired it late 2018. Dale notes that he has seen a lot of changes within our community and would like to see it continue to be a vibrant community.

Board Member Brad Otte - was born in and raised in Gordon, NE where he lived on a Ranch Northwest of town. Brad married his wife Shelly in 1980, they have a son and daughter and five grandchildren. Since 1976 Brad has worked in the area sale barns of Gordon, Rushville and Crawford, Nebraska, and in Winner and Martin, South Dakota. In 1992 Brad added Principal to his title allowing him to sell Agriculture, Commercial and Residential Properties, Estate Auctions and conventional sales. Brad was the most recent owner of Martin Live Stock from 1997 to 2019. Brad is still employed as Auctioneer and Field Representative for the company. Brad has served as Director and Officer of the South Dakota Livestock Auction Market Association Since 2998, Treasurer from 2004 to 2011, Vice President 2012 to 2014 and President in 2015 and 2016. Brad also has served on the Bennett County Fair Board, Martin City Council, and currently on the Bennett County Hospital Board. Brad looks forward to seeing the hospital continue as a leader within the community, while meeting the needs of the town.

Board Member Jeff Johnson - was born in Martin and had been a lifelong resident of Bennett County. Jeff graduated from Bennett County High school in 1981 and received his BS in Animal Science from SDSU in 1985. Jeff is married to Lonna and they have two children Bo and Annie. They farm and ranch in the Vetal Area. Jeff is our newest member beginning his term in January of 2018. Previously, his Mother Elsie Johnson had been a board member in the 1990’s. Jeff feels it is an honor to be on the board and that we are well represented and poised for growth in our community services.
